as a fan of the hip-hop/electronica group out of philadelphia, chiddy bang, i am well of aware of their producer xaphoon jones. this guy is extremely talented and he is a major part of why i listen to their music. over the last few days i’d been getting messages in my facebook inbox building anticipation for the release of his the xaphoon jones mixtape vol. 1.

the day finally came yesterday and this is what the man himself had to say

This is a real underground, guerilla movement. If we all unite, we can have a dance party and fight copyright law at the same time.

It’s a goal of mine to spread this free mixtape to the ends of the earth and eventually, into space.

So please, download it, tell your friends to download it, put it on the stereo when y’all having y’all dance parties and such. I know y’all have dance parties.

i’ve had a chance to listen the mixtape and it is very well done. it crosses different genres and the mash-ups show that his young producer has a a keen ear for sounds.

trey songz and drake released a video for their song successul. the track was originally on drake’s so far gone mixtape, but has been re-worked and appears on trey songz’s new cd ready, which is in stores now. the clip was directed by jake davis.

one of the most underrated talents in modern day R&B music, lloyd is back on the scene with pusha. this is the first i’ve heard from him since his depature from the inc. and he is sounding as good as ever. the bass-heavy, synth-driven production by the runners sometimes seem to drown his light vocals, but all in all its a nice track. just happy to be hearing new music from this guy.
